The Lights and the March

These have been building up for a few weeks. One is purely electronic/hiphop and the other rock. Both covers are from the BBC's coverage of one of China's national holidays(I had asked for suggestions from a friend).

Highlights to me:
both versions of Antipop Consortium's "Volcano"
Turbo Fruits "Volcano"
Pac Div "Mayor" which i initially caught thanks to mtv 2(WOW they still play music!)
Benga melted my face with the bass in "Buzzin'"
Alan Braxe's remix of Beyonce
Real Estate
Both The Feelies tracks
The Fall(which was hard to choose as I had amassed a smattering of 10 of The Falls' albums in a matter of hours)
Boredoms
Patton Oswalt(whose latest album, My Weakness is Strong, is absolutely phenomenal!)

also, thanks to Pinkie Larue for the heads up on the Phoenix remix with Banhart

Lemme know!

GLK

Because I think it's equally crucial and excellent, I present LA dj, Gaslamp Killer's Hell and the Lake of Fire Are Waiting FOR YOU! mix.

such such such an awesome mix.

what others are saying:

"The psyche head's psyche-beat selector-of-choice follows up a terrific slash and grab selection for Finders Keepers with a more personal mix of fiery picks for his own home-brewed imprint. We're not going to dwell on it, but that first track is completely doing our nuts in here, and with no tracklisting to go on we're just resigned to pulling our hair out. But you can expect slightly more obvious elements from DJ Shadow, to Bar 9, Rustie, Jefferson Airplane, Bullion and Can lurking around in the spongy vinyl soup hidden beneath GLK's shocking locks and spilled all over this mix. Basically no one stands up to this crafty character for sheer selections, mixing prowess and overall gameplan, while actually making some sort of coherent sense of this constantly mutating and feedback looping world of music that we live in right now. The mad ones are always the best, in every sense of the word." - http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=226726

what I'm saying:

He fuses everything from kraut rock to early 90s NYC gritty hiphop to norwegian psych to bass wobbling dubstep . Well worth a listen or 10.
